This is a converter for units of length. Non-decimal units are partitioned into the
correspondig subunits.
The values of the Imperial system in the United Kingdom and in the
U.S. customary system are the same (e.g. international inch).
In the U.S.A. the U.S. survey-system is still in use for land survey.
These lengths are a little larger.

Usage of the converter for non-decimal length units:
Type the known values into the fields in front of the corresponding units.
After a mouseclick on any free space of the window or on the "calculate"
button the calculation is performed. Read the result.
In the non-metric unit systems you may choose the units for display
by a click on the corresponding checkbox. Units not chosen have a darker background.
The calculated length is the sum of all displayed values in a system. The smallest
unit in each system is displayed with decimal partitioning, if needed. The values in the SI-units (km, m, cm, and mm)
each correspond to the total calculated length.
Move the mouse over a unit or click on it to read its full name.
For another calculation just change the input values or you may click the
"reset" button, eventually. A previous choice of units is not reset
by this.
Example: You want to convert 3 meters into feet and inch in the U.S. survey system. In the area for the U.S. survey units choose ft and in to be displayed. Type "3" into the field in front of "m". After a mouseclick on any free space of the window or on the "calculate" button you can read the result. 3 m corresponds to 9 ft and 10.11 in. In U. S. customary units this would be 9 ft and 10.1102362 in.
